Found this web page with sources for outdoor fabrics for your homemade projects. I've use questoutfitters, Outdoor Wilderness Fabrics that are listed along with owareusa.com which is not listed Fabric Suppliers

http://www.specialtyoutdoors.com/tips.htm#patterns This is a very good site with tips on sewing gear and outdoor clothes and alot of other very useful info! It also has a listing of suppliers of fabrics,patterns etc. Streamweaver

Check out the forums on www.backpacking.net. Their homemade gear forum gets qutie a bit of traffic. Probably the "best" on the 'net.
