Default AT Thru-hiker survey coming up!

Just a teaser, but I'm going to have a pretty extensive thru-hiker survey up on my site within the next 48 hours. The data will be used for (assuming that I actually finish my program) my dissertation over the next couple of years. I'm also planning on a book release based on this info in '10.

I'll be out at Trail Days handing out the web URL like candy. You can't miss me - I'm the tall guy with the beard!

Things are looking good, and I'm anticipating that this will be the largest survey and database specific to AT thru-hikers over the next couple of months.

Thanks in advance to all the folks that have helped my with this project.

Alright - everything's up now. If you have attempted or completed a thru-hike on the AT, please take a few moments to take this AT Thru-hiker Survey.

The early results have already been incredibly intriguing. I think over the next few months that this is going to be the largest survey of AT thru-hikers conducted.

    Thank you in advance,

    -John

24 hours later, and 30 thru-hikers have completed the survey. I can not believe the great response this thing is getting, and as always, and forever humbled at the generosity of hikers to help out when asked. I was hoping for about 200 (or more) when all is said and done, and it looks like that's going to be the case.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I might kiss some of you if you didn't smell so damn bad!

Feel free to forward the link to whom ever. The more the merrier.

10 days, and over 85 thru-hikers have taken the survey. Thank you so very much.

I'm shooting for 250-300 by August 15, so feel free to pass the link around.

    Johnny,

the survey link seems to be down. this url http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=516733293312 just sits there loading forever. it doesn't work for me on either Firefox or IE.

Surveymonkey just redid their entire site, and apparently changed my weblink in the process withougt telling me. I'm non-plussed, but it seems to be working at this link.

Thanks for the head's up. I'll update the sourcetosea website link when I get home today.

Just hit 255! Thanks to everyone who has filled this thing out. I'm humbled beyond measure. I think I can still get about 400 folks or so by Mid-August.

I got a PM to do the survey, but it says it is for thru-hikers and I'm plainly not a thru-hiker.

Some might consider such shotgun PM'ing to be SPAM and it might unintentionally leave a bad taste in people's mouths. Don't let your enthusiasm affect your good judgment. Hint, hint.
