Default If Allergens...are running through yo' head...Who you gonna call?

    I have allergies.
    Do you?
    What do you do?

My friend told me about bee pollen...but that just sounds silly. I still pop Claritin like Skittles.

Anyone do something that actually works?

(I'd be interested in hearing about how bee pollen works and when I'm supposed to start doing

Bee pollen might work, if it has enough dirt in it.
What you really need is more dirt.

Yeah, mostly I just deal with it. Sneezing isn't so bad, just annoying. Oddly I didn't sneeze much on the trail this summer.

Regular old Allerest works for me. Mine are mostly grass allergies though - the kind you mow.

First see your physician. Ask him if you might try saline nasal spray two or three times a day, both nares. Squeeze it in until you feel it in the back of your throat, then blow your nose to clear that out. Do each side separately, or both sides at once, if you can without gagging. Mucinex seems to help some, once a day for at least thirty days. See if your physician will write you a script for Rhinocort or simular type med to use once a day PRN. Good luck.

I got the Allegra (switched from do-nothing Claritin) and Rhinocort. Both sort of helped this past summer. I'm worried that it's not going to cut it day after day. You're right about the saline thing though. I'll give that a shot.

    Saline spray works.

    Generic Benedryl.

    Generic Sudafed.

    Beware the "bounce."

Claritin does not work well for me.

Speaking of allergies, a little girl I know has allergies to all kinds of foods... her diet is very restricted and she definitely can't have anything in the way of good candy. Does anyone know of a good resource for ordering really good tasting non-allergenic candy for christmas? I'm looking for a big box of chocalates and stuff like that...

uh yeah, I went to an allergist and got tested for allergies and then started taking shots. I also rely upon my nose spray (Rx) to keep me healthy....It normally works...

Fortunately, my allergies are in- doors. Claritin works for me... it was a prescription drug and took years for me to be directed to it. Maybe talk to your phamacist or doctor for some suggestions. Different medicines block the allergic reaction at different steps in the cascade. You may need to test- drive until you find the right one for you. YMMV

Try some locally-made, fresh honey, in fairly large quantities.

    Really.

    Those bees know what's what.

    you can try several things
Sinu Fresh OTC at CVS kills staff and fungus
Aryr OTC at CVS not habit forming and no rebound effect
Vera Mist spray -requires a script 2x each nostral 2x day
Saline spray at CVS use the pressurized can
NasalCrom great allergy product -at CVS
Stay away from oral steroids and in particular stay away from Afrin both have undesirable consequences
Zyrtec is effective but expensive and most health plans wont cover it
benadryl and claritin also work well
Do some research on what I have recommended and you will come up wih the right combination for you
