:banana Trail Ends Festival - Sept 13-14 - Millinocket, ME

This is an abbreviated bit of info about an upcoming Fall '08 trail Festival up here in Maine. I tried to get the full article off the Bangor Daily News web site, but they do not appear to have it up yet. They are looking for corporate sponsorship, a logo, vendors, artists, craftspeople, etc. . Anyone interested is asked to email [email protected] or the Renauds at 723-4321 or [email protected] .

    TRAIL'S END FESTIVAL
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13-14, 2008
    DOWNTOWN MILLINOCKET, MAINE

Brought to you by the Katahdin Area Chamber of Commerce, a new festival is being formed and we need your participation. Located at the foot of Mount Katahdin, the Penobscot Rivers and Baxter State Park, we envision a unique festival in Millinocket that celebrates our natural resources. The festival will be a mix of activities related to:

    - Hiking and the Appalachian Trail
    - Outdoor sports vendors and enthusiasts, including cycling, watercraft, water sports, or fishing
    - Climbing
    - Camping
    - Arts, including music, crafters, fine art, and writing
    - Food vendors or providers of any sort
    - Anything you might want to offer

This new festival will cover downtown Millinocket from Millinocket stream to the bandstand and there are plans to include a name musical act on Saturday night, a talent show, pontoon and paddle boat rides on the stream, a communal trail project either the day before or the day after the festival, artists, vendors and wonderful food! This is a month when many thru hikers finish the trail so don't miss the opportunity to come and celebrate together at the foot of Katahdin, the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. Everyone is invited!

Looks like I will have a celebration to go to when I finish my hike!

I can do a second climb of Katahdin, then hang out in town for the event.

How odd to find a post from before I left for the trail. How so much has happened, how so much has changed.
