Default AT documentary on National Geographic Channel

Not sure if this has already been posted, but it might be of interest to know that the National Geographic channel (cable, satellite) is airing an AT special on Tuesday November 10 at 8pm.

I stopped in to the ATC HQ about 2 weeks ago and met Gary Hill, AT volunteer to the max, he was working and he subtlely mentioned the show, "Hey I'm going to be on TV!!". Only kidding about the quote, but he mentioned the show and was quite excited about it. Heck I was excited meeting him, 70 yoa and a thru hiker. I'm looking forward to the show too. There are nice pictures in the latest AT mag with Gary's picture summiting Katahdin.

DVR programmed.

Can't wait, I had to make myself stop watching the trailers. In a wierd twist of fate, I have Tuesday night off work, which almost never happens.

P.S. I can't think of a more beautiful thing than to have your ashes spread along the entire length of the trail.

Never heard it before either but it's not a bad idea.

The ATC likes it. I think I heard it first in something they published. Or then again, I may have coined the phrase.

I just got an email from the ATC, giving the times it's going to be aired, and urging me to watch it...and to donate more $$$ to support the Trail.

Default The People's Trail

Actually, when it came to talking about a Trail for the people, Benton MacKaye spoke this way about the Trail around 85 years ago.

So did I. Not owning a TV, guess I'll have to find a friend with one Tuesday night.

I was surprised to see this already available on my Comcast On Demand service, so I sat down and watched it last night. I enjoyed it. Seemed to quickly jump from Harper's Ferry to Bear Mountain, but that's ok. It was an interesting program.

For those without cable or satellite: It would not be surprising if National Geographic made this available as a for-purchase DVD at some point on their website. Maybe even sold eventually through the AT Store (ATC)?

ATC will have the DVD for sale through our on-line store and here in Harpers Ferry as soon as it is available. At this point we don't know when that will be.
