my reddington 4-pc. flyrod came with a very heavy almost indestructable case. i've relace the case with a lightweight homemade alternative. its not very bombproof but it works fine if you are reasonably careful.
at your local lighting or home builders supply store purchase a clear plastic flurescent light case. they are cheap and made to safely transport those long fragile tube lites. they come with a cap on either end. cut to size and stuff a small disc of foam in both ends. may be reinforced with some sort of tape but i have not found that to be neccessary (yet). it is just wide enough for the four pc. rod. i have not tried with a 5 pc. but i dont think it would fit.
