Description: We made it to the top of Springer, kicked off our boots and packs and laid down only to hear the rattle of this baby. He fiinally took off. About 4 feet in length.

Default Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake

See Snakes of Georgia and South Carolina for more information. EDR's range does not extend into the mountains of north Georgia and it's found in much different habitat.
