roan was so beautiful - the thick woods in this area brings back to memory the fresh pine smells...this photo makes me want to try roan again - next time northbound.

It really reminded me of Christmas in late October 2008 after it had dumped about 6" of snow. I climbed up, SOBO, with the bright morning sun trying to reach through the thick boughs.
