    Well, one reason is that I was surprised that he doesn't appear to have lost much weight on his thru-hike this year. With the date posted, it is now obvious that this was a section hike.

    Another reason, applicable for some photos, is that it can be really neat to see how the landscape changes over the years, such as this comparison of Little Rock Pond in 1979 versus 2009.

    Rain Man, when AT Troll gets back, we should pester him to add "Date of Photo" to the submissio process, at least as an optional field.
