Georgia Appalachian Trail Club Plaque

Circa 1934: "A Footpath for those who seek Fellowship with the Wilderness". This is one of three of these plaques located on the trail in Georgia (Springer, Neels Gap and Unicoi Gap-- 0.0, 30.7 and 50.7 miles north of Springer, respectively). Notice that the hiker has a hatchet.
