Walnut Mountain Shelter 06APR2005. Walnut is 1.8 miles from the present Roaring Fork Shelter which will be replaced by new construction underway about 3 miles closer to Max Patch. Most new guide books do not mention Walnut Shelter, which can accomodate five hikers. The interior is in poor shape.
