Sun rise on my campsite near Brunyon run. This is where the third bear encounter in two days occured. I was asleep when I woke up thinking that I had heard something. I listened and thought I could hear a small animal shuffling through the leaves. Imagine my surprise when when I heard the rotten log beside my hammock being ripped to pieces. I layed quietly and watched the bear in the moonlight as he/she proceeded to rip logs and flip rocks in the vicinity and devour the tasty varmints and insects underneath. I must admit that every once in a while I do wish I wasn't hiking solo. But then again it does make for some interesting conversation when I arrive home.
