Over each year of hiking the AT here and there, jumping around where it worked for me and my various gal companions, I never intended to finish the entire thing. I hiked with the mantra, "I'll keep hiking the AT til I don't love it anymore." And I never stopped loving it! Completed the AT after 16 years at age 68. |

Long-time AT section hiker, starting as a 15-year sophomore Eagle Scout in the NJ section over spring break. Finished the Mid-Atlantic and western New England states in the 70's while living on the Jersey Shore and central NY State, then took a long break for career and family until 2000 when based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Completed final 5 sections after relocating to Minneapolis. Summited Katahdin in a cloud to finish my last AT mile on October 4, 2014. |

An awesome journey but one over too quickly. Sad that time made it so I had to complete most of Maine a year after my first hike. I'm counting the days until I can embark on the Trail again and do a true end to end thru hike. |
