Time to vote on a city and in replies get an idea of how many will come.
amicola is better for me but hot springs would be great....

just kicking this back up to the top hoping for more response
I'm still voting for the Big Creek campground in the Smokies near Mnt Moma's. We serve ;)
They have a group site and 12 awesome tent sites off a parking area. Depending on the numbers that intend on staying over, there's also the very accomendating Standing Bear Farm not far away.
Plus, since it's a Moot, it should be in the trees, not a town.
One thing, the group site would need to be reserved ($40), the other tent sites are on a 1st come basis.

BIG CREEK.... Love HS and Max Patch but I've been there numerous times. Never been to Big Creek. Sue

I'm coming but hoping for a new location like Big Creek. Also a place with trees (hammock) would be nice. As well as the possiblity of a day hike close by.

Big Creek gets my vote, and if you truly enjoy a great strenuos dayhike, there's one close by. It's the Baxter Creek trail. 4200' elevation change, in 6 miles. Firetower up top on Mt Sterling. Plus, Mtn Momma's yeah..............

Not to create any confusion, but I too would like to change my vote to Big Creek. I missed the information about a group site, and thought there were only 12 campsites.

Ohh I am so conflicted... Would love to hit either Hot Springs or Big Creek, haven't hiked much near either. But I guess I'll pick Hot Springs. No matter what it's on my schedule.

Since Big Creek is in the running, I'll call the reservation office in the morning to see if the group site is even available.

I was just reading a post about the price of GOLD, I mean GAS... I was thinking maybe I could take Mowgli's suggestion and car pool.:clap
I will be heading north to "wherever we choose" from the Jacksonville, FL area. Anyone live along the way that I could possibly carpool with. I could drive and you could share gas expenses or you could drive and I could share expenses...
Just a thought.

It looks like the choices have narrowed to either Hot Springs or Big Creek. I'm sure this information is already here, but I've had a little difficulty navigating this forum so if someone could give us some objective info on those two choices again please I'll change my vote from Robbinsville to wherever. Doesn't look like Robbinsville is an overwhelming choice anyway.

Since it seems like some people are reconsidering their choices it may be easier to post a new poll with the current top three. It looks like if you take people switching Hot Springs is still #1, with Big Creek in 2, followed by Amicalola. My 0.02

I've got to go to Indianapolis on the 28th and won't get back to Tennessee until the afternoon of the 29th, but I would still like to go.

Is there any way we can have a revote on the three obvious contenders? I'm leaving for a week of trail maintenance (maybe) and would like to have this thing settled by the time I get back. That'll leave me a few days to know if we are actually going to do this. Perhaps the cheerleaders for the different locations could settle things among themselves and then the winner could be the sponsor and make whatever reservations are required? Good idea? yea or nay.

Big Creek would work for me, too. I have never stayed there--it was closed last November when I thought I was going to stay there. Oops.
