This just in, at 2309 8.24.09 earthquake 3.8 with epicenter close to Hotsprings NC (3 miles deep).....shook windows in Johnson City, TN...
Let's hope the AT and AT community in Hotsprings faired well!
I'm 30 miles away by trail. Thought a train was rollin through the house!
Thanks for the info. Hope nothing major happened with the good folks of Hot Springs.
i hope no damage was done to the trail.trail crews might have their work cut out for them this fall..i keep forgetting that such a major tectonic plate exists in the appalachians..

Everything In Hotsprings O.k. I Just Pulled In After The Fact To Hike A Section Of At With Skyrider. Although Elmer Said Skyrider Slept Through The Whole Thing. He Must Have Been Really Tired. What About Skyrider.

I'm about 60 miles from Hot Springs and the earthquake woke me up and out of bed! It was the weirdest feeling.
