Good morning, any recommendations on just a quick out and back one night hike. I am wanting to head out this Thursday for a quick overnight hike. I have to work Friday night so looking to get back in time for a hour or two of sleep. Would prefer North Carolina or southern Virginia. Thanks.

Linville Gorge might be a little hard due to recent wildfire damage. But the trails are open.
AT - Roan Mtn, Big Bald
MST in the southern Pisgah Forest around the Black Balsams as long as the parkway is open. Much the trail criss-crosses/parallels the parkway, then skirts way below it.

That part of the Art Loeb trail is my favorite.
