You could have 1 foot of snow on the ground and temperatures in the 20's.
You could have bright and sunny with temperatures in the 70's.
Or anything in between.
So you would need to wait until the first week in march and start watching the weather reports.

Yeah you could have temps ranging from below freezing to mid 50's with alot of snow and RAIN especially in the GSMNP ( expect below 0 temps at night in the park ),but count on taking anywhere from 35-45 days from springer to damascus, it all depends on how many MPD you do. Good Luck and Happy hiking. RED-DOG

It typically takes me about 6 weeks to get from Springer to Damascus, but I'm an old man :)

The weather in Georgia usually isn't too bad. It's when you get into North Carolina /Tennessee that it gets iffy. Now your up at 6000 feet most of the time and right in the path of where the jet stream directs storms that time of year. Now you do need to be prepared for most anything.

Weather forecast: There's going to be a lot of weather - and then it's going to change.

On average, it will be cold and wet that time of year. Late season winter storms are definitely possible, as are very warm spring tease days, and everything in between. You simply must be prepared for the extremes that make up the average.

If you only prepare for the average conditions - then you will not be prepared.

Six weeks is actually a pretty good target. Be prepared for cold and wet.

Several people have said 6 weeks is a good guess. Slowpokes - only took me 41 days. :)
