If you use Google Earth, you can view the new maps directly.

To access a map from the free Google Earth client or from Google Earth Pro, you must sign in to Maps Engine with a Google or Google Apps account.
From the File menu, select Sign in to Maps Engine and, if necessary, sign in. Be sure to use the account that has access to Maps Engine maps.
After Google Earth authenticates you, it displays two ways to get access to a map:

A gallery of private Google Maps Engine maps to which you have access.
A field into which you can enter the URL of a public map.

To get the URL of a map, look on the Map Details page, and click the link shown here in bold italics:

They have also made a Google Map of the same:

The park map office has released this past summer new topo maps, all 29 of them, for the entire park.

Another great resource for Smokies info is Tom Dunigan's Tennessee Landforms site.
http://web.eecs.utk.edu/~dunigan/gsmnp/
The above link shows his Smokies related links
His Gps tracks are the most accurate information I have found. His gps tracks show many of the trail re-routings that Garmin and similar maps tend to miss.
Awesome resource if you spend time off trail in the park. I took all his trail and quiet walkway tracks and made the in to a transparent map over my Gamin 24k map on my gps and they have saved me a handful of times
