When planning your hike, what type of over-the-counter medicine do you plan on bringing with you?

Ibuprofen, lots. also tiny bottle of eye drops, small tube of carmax (i'm prone to cold sores), and small tube of anti fungal cream for athlete's foot (used to be prone to those too but don't get it much anymore--awful to try and put up w/ a bout of that on the Trail).

Immodium, Benadryl, low-dose aspirin, Tylenol PM. A couple few of each weigh next to nothing. Never needed any of them yet (knock wood).

Ardbeg or Laphroaig.

That's high class medicine. No generics for you!

I take a baby aspirin daily. Need an acid blocker occasionally (inherited acid reflux from dad). Immodium just in case.

True. But when I take the Ballantyne's or Heaven Hill Old Style it gets gone too quickly. So it ends up being a wash. :)

I've taken half an aspirin, daily, for about 30 years. On the Trail I simply take a whole aspirin three times a week.

I always carry pink bismuth for stomach trouble, pseudo-ephedrine for sinus congestion, and menthol lozenges for sore throats. Have never used any of them.

The most often USED OTC I carry is benadryl... I find that I get a stuffy nose when I sleep in cold temperatures. So I take benadryl when camping in cooler weather.

As for what other main OTC I carry:
1. Pain Reliever (Tylenol, Advil, Motrin, etc)
2. Peptobismal

Since I hike with kids, I try to purchase children's strength drugs and carry a chart to so proper dosages for adults. That way I can carry only 3 drugs rather than 6.

I do bring some Imodium just in case, but hope to never use it.

Maker's Mark. Hiking is cheap; might as well go top-shelf with the over the counter medication!
