Does anyone know the tent situtation around the Cove Mountain Shelter ( where the Thelma Marks shelter used to be) just south of Duncannon. Are there any spaces flat enough around the shelter to squeeze a couple tents in or is there are designated tenting area near the shelter.
there are a few south of cove mountain shelter
coming up from dunncannon right after hawk rock view right at the top of the hill theres a nice little spot, i camped there in 2012 , no water but a 1.8 mile walk over the cove mountain will give u the water, i hope this helps you,
I remember there being some tent spots at the shelter.
It's not a flat issue, it's a rocks issue. Should be great for hammocks.
In the winter with snow on the ground we ended up finding usable spots for five 1-man tents near the shelter and there was also room for several tents at the junction of the AT and the side trail to the shelter.

There is space for a few tents at the intersection of the blue blaze to the shelter. There is also an area with pine trees nearby.
