TY for news. I didn't know they used to operate a creamery. Beer and ice cream, huh? Two of a hiker's three basic requirements. Any chance they'll open a bacon plant?

IIRC they started the Ice cream business to get them through Prohibition - that and porter issued by physicians' prescriptions for women with the "vapors."

Doc from Cannery Row was big on Beer Milkshakes...

The best dessert I've ever had was a Guiness float.

If that doesn't immediately make sense, just ask yourself if you like Guiness better than root beer :-)

Grew up with Dickie Yuengling in Pottsville, Pa. I recall buying 3 quarts of Yuengling beer for$1.00 in the early 60's.
The Ice cream was also very good back then and I 'm looking forward to getting back home in Schuykill county to have some of it!
Here is a little trivia history. Dick was the fifth generation of Yuengling men to run the brewery but he himself had three daughters. His daughter Wendy is more or less now running the business which grew from a local, 2 county beer to the fastest growing beer east of the Mississippi. He ha been working on the rebirth of the ice cream for a long time.

Good stuff indeed. Last had in 84. Luckily I still (or is it "steel"?) have some Pittsburgh area connections to bring me some. Oh yeah!

Yuengling is amazing, I'm still waiting for it to come to the midwest (oldest brewery in America FTW!!!). I've never had the pleasure of Yuengling icecream, I have however had Guiness icecream and it was simply the most amazing thing in the world!

When will this happen? I can't wait.
