It seems to be some sort of social media pyramid scam to sell books and will spill over from facebook in high numbers if we don't nip it in the bud and find a place to put it on this forum. It's not even that good a book.

My cat was having the same problem! you need to bring them to a vet. ..... I'd give the cat 500 mg of Vitamin C by putting either olive oil or butter on the tablet, then hold the cats mouth open and ... n dat's da name a dat tune!

Air compressor with 200 pounds pressure, good bite-proof hose and duct tape should fix the cat problem. Just be careful where you aim the reverse end

Badger: yeah, I'd agree with moving the threads to a central spot. After the first one, I pretty much ignore them. Not a charity I'd consider, but that's just me.

I had read there was a way to mark a thread so it would no longer appear: an IGNORE feature. How would I do this?

Thanks

I must say the term 'Badger' seems to really fit well to the situation.

Just ignore it if you don't want to read it. Not quite media, not quite lightweight hiking...some many even say it is a general topic? :)

OR you can start a multipost thread about it....

I love the thread ignore feature. All you do is click on the thread that you don't want to see. Then, right at the top of the page there is "Thread Tools" . Just click on that and the drop down will include a thread ignore button. Easy.

Just like when you put a member on ignore, the same is for the thread ignore feature, if you are not logged in (lurking) you can see everything again.

Better yet, merge them all into a single thread!

Why the controversy? So they want help to win a contest that could enable them to get some free gear. Others have asked advice on how to earn $ for their hike. Some have even asked for ways around the system. Asking for support in the form of clicking "like" on FB is a lot less innocuous than some requests.

But it's certainly AT-hike relevant.

Was more commenting sarcastically on the fact that a technological method of ignoring something, or anything, is somehow needed in this life.

Well for me it's like this- There are "hot button threads", for me, so if I get too emotionally involved in a certain thread, it's hard to ignore it. This thread ignore feature helps me not see the thread, therefore, I'm not getting sucked back into the thread.

When I feel strongly about something it's hard to resist doing that "on my own"..... this helps.

This grasshopper is learning what works for me.

Others, I think, have a low thresh hold tolerance level for what they don't like. Also, what one person finds annoying doesn't phase another person. We are all different. So this would works for that, as well. :) IDK.....
