I came to this section looking for a good hardback or paperback to read about some fellow AT trekkers and while I know ebooks are the new thing, I still like to sit at home and flip through some actual pages. Basically this post is for reading suggestions on books that can be found in print format for casual reading at home.

While I am sure it is out there, this section of the forum seems to have an influx of kindle links which isn't my cup of tea.

Roughly half the books I post Kindle links to also come in paperback. However the paperback versions are not free.

I recently completed "Hiking the Appalachian Trail, Volumes One & Two (http://www.amazon.com/Hiking-Appalachian-Trail-Volumes-edited/dp/B000VZP6ZI/ref=sr_1_45?ie=UTF8&qid=1393010752&sr=8-45&keywords=appalachian+trail+volume+1)" edited by James R. Hare. Around 4,000 pages total, released around 1975. It is a compilation of different people's stories of their hikes, most occurring in the lates 60s and early 70s. I found it especially interesting to contrast the differences and similarities over the past 40 years. It is usually available on ebay. I picked up a copy with a water damaged cover but perfectly good pages for around $25. I don't think it's available on Kindle.

AWOL (http://www.amazon.com/AWOL-Appalachian-Trail-David-Miller/dp/0547745524/ref=tmm_pap_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1393011141&sr=8-1) and Odyssa (http://www.amazon.com/Becoming-Odyssa-Adventures-Appalachian-Jennifer/dp/B004QEWIM4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1393011199&sr=8-2&keywords=Odyssa) are always popular favorites of a more recent vintage. I also really enjoyed "In Beauty May She Walk: Hiking the Appalachian Trail at 60 (http://www.amazon.com/Beauty-May-She-Walk-Appalachian/dp/1889386626/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393011358&sr=8-1&keywords=leslie+mass)". It made me feel like I might have a real shot even though I am not a young pup anymore, not that I am old either.

My break at work is about over but I have several more at home I could recommend but their titles slip my mind at the moment..

This was good, Title: UFOs: Myths, Conspiracies, and Realities http://www.amazon.com/UFOs-Conspiracies-Realities-John-Alexander/dp/B007K4H8VS

Thanks pedalling. I am really more interested in trail stories and AT trail journals.
