Tell me more!

What's your gear list? What's your budget? What's you plan? How much time do you think you'll spend alone? With a group?

if you are leaving Saturday I'll save u the trouble of freezing for three days and paying extra for a warm coat. you are going to be very cold for much of the next month. you'll be making breakfast in 25 degrees often . grab a coat

Haha, I enjoy a little bit of victimization. Makes me feel validated and superior when I take the high road. ;)

On a more serious note, bullied is as bullied feels. At least, that's what Forest Gump's mama would have said.

Hey Happy - good luck, west central Ohio here and still cold with snow here....+1 on buying a jacket before starting, it will be worth the weight to not be shivering for 3-4 weeks. Will be in the Whites and Maine in early August. HYOH !!

i dont have anyone sending me items , im doing this completely solo so what i bring is what i bring for the whole trip! i have alrdy sent my own care package with my first 3 days supply's to make it 2 neel gap, i have 3 layers of clothes, which is more then i wear now , btw its 9 degrees here with a wind chill under -6 and snowing, march 2 temp for springer mt is

68° high

46° low

im more worried about chaffing not freezing , i have not felt 68 degrees in 7 months here in solon ohio!

just got home from Amicalola Falls SP to Neels Gap section hike this past weekend. Top of Springer was jammed with dayhikers on Saturday, first nice warm weekend in a while. Folks at Mountain Crossings said the logbook was signed by approx. 45 nobo thru-hikers as of this weekend. Hawks Mtn Shelter on Sat nite had approx. a dozen for the night. Water is flowing excellent up there in all springs and creeks right now. Best of luck to class of 2014!

Good luck.

Remember, don't stop hiking north unless something is in a cast. Then decide if that appendage can tag along for the ride.

I'm from boston, don't wear a coat at home either . mountain cold is different and wet mountain cold is another. wet mountain cold with mountain wind on the ridge is another. you are outside 24 hours a day, it's different, but have fun!
