I went out this morning looking for trash compactor bags. I went to Lowes and Home Depot. All they had were 50 packs for about $10 that were 2.5 mil . Not much different than regular kitchen bags. Some how I think I'm looking for something else.
So what kind of trash compactor bag am I looking for, and where will I find it ?
Thanks !

Fry's, Kroger, maybe Wally World, Target. One of the major grocery chains in your area.
And you are right, not much difference.

For what it's worth, I've had no luck finding them in grocery stores around here. Have been told that Lowe's has them but haven't verified.

I've found them at Wal-Mart but only in a heavily scented version that retains its scent for weeks at least (I tested). Wasn't comfortable with a liner smelling like that so I went with the zPacks cuben dry bag pack liner.

Thanks !Got mine at Wally world but like you had to buy a lot more than I needed. I think mine was a 35 pack. Can't say for sure.

I live in the south. Publix sells in packs of 4 or 5. I've had great luck with them. No need for a pack full if separate dry bags. I use one liner for all sleep wear and sleeping bag. They are much thicker than regular trash bags

I got mine at Walmart but had the same problem with the large qty, I now have several life time supplies.

I use a contractor trash bag. I switch to a new one around Harpers Ferry. Works like a charm.

Go where they sell a trash compactor, Sears or any other appliance center for the real thing.

I'm glad you started this thread squeezebox. I always use a black garbage bag on the outside of my pack (cut slits for the straps) This is good to know.

Rolls you are so generous! :D

I went to Sears this afternoon, They had a 10 pack of compactor bags $10, regular $15 . These bags fit a 15" compactor, does not give gallon size but looks like a proper size for a large pack. 3mil, regular trash bags are 1 mil. wt, 2.5 oz, They look sturdy enough.
I'm satisfied.

What you are looking for is carried at Lowe's..item number is 202069 44 bags for $14.48.

These are super heavy duty..2.5 mil thickness, 25" width, 32" height........68 liter capacity (18 gallon)

They are white in color (easy to find stuff in the dark) and super stretchy. You will have a hard time tearing these bags.

I bought a box of them a few years ago and I think I have used TWO of them.

Highly recommended and plenty to give to your friends !!

Personally I use 3mil contractor bags that I got at the home depot and they work great. I have a box of them that I bought when I was doing some project or other around the house and I never saw the point of going out and buying "special" bags just to use as a pack liner.

I got the pack liner from LiteTrail for $5 (2-pack): http://litetrail.com/products/litetrail-nylobarrier-pack-liner
Haven't tested it yet, but I like that it's clear. Some people may like that it's made from the same material as their odor-proof bags. I don't know if it will be as durable over the long haul as the 3 mil contractor trash bags I was using, but it seems like it will work just fine.

Ace Hardware sells the 5 packs here.

Ace Hardware was the only place I could find the unscented bags.
