Have fun.

I missed the question about average weight carried. 25-40 lbs sounded high. I guess they were counting water and food.

Easy...but only got 19. Even though I knew the terrain of NH and ME is the most challenging, the length of VA and rocks of PA have been what I've read the most complaints about, ergo thought "most difficult" by thruhikers.

The 20 questions are slightly different each time you pull it up.

I won't tell the one I missed in case it is on someones.

20 out of 20.

I got 20 out of 20 too but some of the questions are really stale information. For example how many calories a hiker will burn off per/day. It really depends on the hiker. Their figure can be really miss leading.

19 out of 20 not bad

20 out of 20 here. Very nice to see I can still ace an exam, even if it's really, really simple.

20/20 easy quiz if you've done any reading or surfing here.

I failed to get more than one wrong.

It'd be more interesting if it was written by hikers for hikers. This wasn't written for hikers.

After the first time you can answer the questions without reading the questions.

I misread one. Shouldn't have rushed.

Tthe quiz wasn't working right on Firefox. At first I only got 10/20, then I realized it was only showing me every other question. Worked better on IE (20/20). Was a little lucky. I'm always getting MacKaye, Shaffer, and Avery mixed up. Just about got the calories per day question wrong too.

I got mixed up on MacKaye and Shaffer too, so I missed that one. Then, I was almost at the end when an advertizement thing popped up... I lost the quiz. :( So I didn't get to answer the last few questions. But, it was fun! :)

I missed the calories question. 6000? For real? That seemed high.

I got my 20 but i had to go back because an ad popped up and when I went back the quiz was gone so I had to start over. Do I get a star anyway?

10/20 also....under Linux and FF, it only showed the odd-numbered ones, skipped the evens.

I get the names mixed up too, but I was lucky and guessed right. 20/20!
I must be a "real" hiker.

I agree the quiz is glitchy and buggy. Seemed to work fine (well, except I had to click every "Next" button twice before it would go to the next question) up to #13. Then, even though the slide remained unchanged, the button said "Results" instead of "Next" and the question count said "20 of 20."

I might try again sometime, should I wish to waste my good time on a lame, unchecked web page that the designers have failed to properly de-bug. Not to mention, the font colors blend right into the background colors at the bottom of the page, should one even wish to waste more time looking for a non-existent "contact us" or "technical support" link. Truly, a lame site!

BTW, I tried it with more than one browser, same issues.

Snacktime got 20/20...on his own, except when he came close to getting the same one wrong that I did, I gave him the heads up here that they were looking for the most technically difficult states, and not the ones that are complained about the most. Good job though...the boy does me proud!

I missed the question about average weight carried. 25-40 lbs sounded high. I guess they were counting water and food.

I nearly missed that one too, since I believe many that finish are the lighter answer. But went conservative with the middle answer (include the average of the heavy people who drop out) and so was able to get 20/20.

marti038,

I had to think about that one too. It seem like there really is a lot of stale information that been around for years. With gear the way it is now, 25 pounds with food/water seems like it is on the heavy side.
