I am looking for a good AT map of Pennsylvania that shows road crossings. Trying to do a slack pack of the state this fall & need crossings to spot cars at.

Thanks Mike (Mr. Mean)

You might have to install software (AKA an app) to see this, but I really like and use "AT google fusion tables" to get a good overall look at sections. You can zoom to your hearts content, see terrain and roads, satellite views, whatever. Check it out. I'm heading to WV/MD/PA/NJ myself in about a month:

If you're just looking for parking information try this site:

http://appalachiantrail.rohland.org

Other than that an AT Guide and the ATC PA map set might help you.

Thanks Don for this great site. It is the most informative site I have found related to the AT

You're welcome. I use it all the time to plan section hikes.

A great map for free is the online interactive map (http://www.appalachiantrail.org/hiking/find-a-hike/interactive-map) at the Appalachian Trial Conservancy website. It shows road crossings and shelters. You can zoom and roam around at will.

Mr. Mean, I think I have a duplicate set of ATC maps of PA. If you like, I'll dig in my AT map box and see. I don't know the date on them, but assuming I am remembering correctly that I have two of everything, I'd be happy to mail you a set, gratis. Let me know if you're interested. I hiked PA half in Oct '12 and half April '13.

Got your PM.

Okay, here's what I found and will put all 4 duplicates that I have in the mail today:

These are "old" (meaning mostly 1998-2000 revision date) maps. I am missing one, from Delaware Water Gap to Swatara Gap. Maybe someone else will pitch in that one"

I found their numbering/titling philosophy to be confusing. Here's a list (north to south):

"Sections 1 - 6" (MISSING) Delaware Water Gap to Swatara Gap.
"Sections 7 & 8" Susquehanna River to Swatara Gap.
"Map 1 (sections 9, 10 & 11)" Susquehanna River to PA Route 94.
"Map 2-3 (sections 12 & 13)" PA Route 94 to US Route 30.
"Map 4 (section 14)" US Route 30 to PA-MD State Line.

I hope they help! Don't fret about offering to pay me. Just put them to good use and pay it forward some day. I'm happy to get them out of a box and into a hiker's hands!
