Coming In from AZ. Any idea on best way to get to HI

If you are driving, there is long term parking for backpackers near the Happy Isles trailhead. If you are flying from Arizona, you will probably find it cheaper to fly into San Francisco or Oakland compared to Merced or Mammoth Lakes. If you fly into SF/Oakland, you can take Amtrak to Merced and YARTS to Yosemite Valley on a combined ticket that costs around $35. If you fly into Merced, you can take YARTS directly from the airport or from several spots in town. If you fly into Mammoth, YARTS has service that you can take to Yosemite Valley.

Last year, I took Amtrak/YARTS from San Francisco and it worked out very well. Flying into Mammoth would have been a little easier but much more expensive at the time I booked travel.
