Picking the Right Hammock

I have been looking into purchasing a hammock for a while now. I was at Trail Days last year (2013) and was able to lay in a Hennessy as well as a Jacks'R'Better bridge hammock. I was impressed with both. I have also had the opportunity to lay in the Warbonnet Blackbird and additional Hennessy's due to friends having them. I can not tell much if any of a difference between the Warbonnet and Hennessy. The JRB is unique in the bridge style which seemed like it may be more comfortable but brings several drawbacks. The following are hammocks I'm considering:

WarBonnet Blackbird Double 1.1 or 1.7
Hennessy Hyperlite Asym Zip
Hennessy Ultralite Backpacker Zip
JRB Bear Mountain Bridge Hammock - Deluxe or Ultra Light

Any opinions or advice concerning these models would be much appreciated. I'm trying to consider weight, comfort, ease of set up, customer support, and additional features (footbox, gear hangers, mesh pockets, suspension options, accessories, and how well a pad works with the hammock). Thanks again for all your help!

Warbonnet also makes a bridge hammock, the Ridge Runner.

I went with the bridge hammocks because I wanted to flatter lay that you get in a bridge. For myself that won out over everything else. With a bridge hammock they are going to tend to be slightly heavier because of the use of spreader bars. On the other hand, you can get away with using a narrower underquilt.

Jacks-R-Better and Warbonnet are also each good companies to deal with.

I have the old style JRB BMB hammock and am very happy with it.

Every style/manufacturer has its fans. The best thing to do is to attend a hang and see what you like.

The Amok is bizarre looking. I want one just because you don't see them very often. That is a mind-blowing setup. I plan on looking into some hangs so that I can speak with some additional people and hopefully lay in a few. Thanks for everyone's input.

most people here will tell you the best hammock is the one they have. you will also find it is the ONLY hammock they have owned.
why not buy a cheap hammock just to see if you even like it.

This is true!

But having owned half a dozen of the most popular hammocks (including some named above), I keep going back to the best and most fully featured of all.
The OP probably won't listen, but I'd tell him to quit fooling around and go straight to the Clarks ultralight. It costs a little more but it's worth it.
