Go to a used sports store and buy a $5.00 pair of ski poles. It's what I use to hike with after my deluxe, collapsible hiking ones were fit for the trash.

Go to Target and get some Eddie Bauers for 20 apiece. Carbide tips and shocks.

Wal-Mart has 'em for 10 apiece, but the tips don't hold up as well.

Neither are ultralight, but they're kindalight.

I have Bamboo growing in my back yard. It spread from someone that planted it in their yard 4 houses up the street many years ago! Now 8 backyards are over taken with it. I cut down most of it when I bought my house but it is a real PITA to keep control of. Forget about taking a couple of weeks off in late Winter or early Spring because it will move in that quick! It attracts mosquitos too.

Yeah I'd really like to meet the guy that planted that stuff! I'd show him or her what to do with it.
