Fixing to do a hike in early june in the roan mtn area. Most likely TN395 to US19. The question is, where is a good place to park at or near the US19-AT interchange??? Also can anyone reccomend a good shuttle in the area??? Thanks in advance!!!

I used Terry at Mountain Harbour Hostel as a shuttle. Just leave your car there .

Is that old beat up ex-ranger house still a shelter? I haven't been on that part of the trail for many years.

Park at Mountain Harbour. Use their shuttle service, or use http://www.hikershuttles.com/ in Erwin.

I weekend section hiked from tn 91 to greasy creek last year and have alot of experience with Mountain Harbour B&B. I have Spread this word along the trail and on here quite alot so here I go again:

Mountain Harbour B&B has given me the best trail service I have ever had. They are a 10 out of 10 on every scale

Proffesional, Family like, Punctual, list goes on and on. They love my dog, and make you feel right at home. Their rates are more then fair and have even picked me up short of my goal one trip when bad thunderstorms came in. I wouldnt consider using anyone else on the books except them. You can park your car at MH B&B and they will run you up to Carvers Gap their farm is about .5 off the trail if that.

Thanks, Seatbelt! I thought maybe someone or the group responsible for that trail section might have replaced it by now. I remember it being so beat up. It must have been in the early to mid 1990s when I stayed there one night. It was my first hike on the AT.

I will be doing a hike from Sams Gap to US19E during Memorial day week. I will be using Mountain harbour to both stay at and for the shuttle.
