I put together a web page that can be used to calculate (or at least estimate) alcohol stove performance parameters, for all you gear heads who would like to compare one cook system to another. You need only to measure the temperature of water before the test, the temperature of the water when the stove goes out, the time for the stove to go out, and the volumes of fuel and water used. For this to work, you need to select fuel and water volumes so that the stove burns out before the water boils. From the data, the sheet calculates stove power, efficiency, time and fuel needed to boil 2 cups of water at 68F/20C. The calculations assume constant heat output for the duration of the burn.
