Welcome aboard. I'm primarily a "Lurker", but I enjoy the site. Hope you find it as beneficial as I have.

Welcome A-Train! If you don't know about it already, there is also a Yahoo group established for 2003 thru-hikers, with a bunch of them starting about the time you are: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hikersRus

Enjoy,
Ed

Welcome, A-Train! If you've any questions or problems in the next 6 weeks as you get things together, feel free to send 'em along, that's pretty much why most of us are here. Best wishes on your planning and your hike!

Welcome to WhiteBlaze Mr A-Train. Saw your posts on hikersRus for a while now. Seems like you've already bonded with a large group heading out on 3/1. I'm not starting until 3/29 so doubt we'll be seeing each other any time soon, unless you're REALLY slow or I get a sudden burst of energy.

A good friend of mine, Danny Cunningham is from Brooklyn. He hiked the trail 2 years ago. Lightningbolt is his trail name. His dad E-Z hiked it too. They were friends with a captain at the Dean St. firehouse that was killed at the towers on 9/11. They all hung out at Farrell's and tossed back a few sociables. I'm gonna visit them soon. Probably in March.

Lonewolf,
I know of a semi-famous Farrells Bar on 16th street in Brooklyn. Not so close to Dean street though. What would I know about bars though, I'm only 19..... A-Train
