Was curious if anyone had any news or pics from this year's Trail Days, would love to see some here if anyone gets the time to post. Wasn't able to get to it this year :( Looks like they had great weather up there after that storm front passed through. TIA

I delivered a hiker there yesterday afternoon about 4:00. I'd not been able to find Fleur's service dog vest and so decided not to try to walk around. Didn't matter. One would have to blaze a trail to get through the crowds. UNBELIEVABLE! Ordinarily, I try to avoid crowds. Just don't find them attractive. But THIS crowd was a HAPPY CROWD. Definitely it is different from the first one I attended in 1999. Whew.

I was there Friday-Saturday. Alot has changed since I was there last in 97. Tent city has been moved further away from the center of town and there is a considerable law enforcement presence. From my viewpoint, things seemed to be more organized and there was a lot less public drunkeness.

2nd year attending. Stayed in ComfyLand during my time there this year and last. (Private property adjacent to tent city) Seemed like there were far fewer tents and hikers this year than last. Massive police presence and patrolling of the woods behind tent city...yet another reason to stay in ComfyLand. The drum circle was encircled by police-not a large turnout on Saturday night when I was there.

I too appreciated the police presence. Things seemed calm all around and I didn't hear too much hootin and hollerin after the hiker prom even as some were walking down the street around midnight.

the ones that don't like the police presence are the ones with somethin' to hide

I was in tent city bordering the woods and went to the bon fire the first night. Drums lasted till early morning. The police were laid back and watched the fire and enjoyed the music. Met a lot of people, listened to music and drank some shine. Great time, just wish I saw more WB members although I did see Teacher outside Larry's while driving on the trolley back to my vehicle. I had to meet the people I drove down there so I could get them back to Waynesboro.

I've seen several posts on Facepage where all the police presence pretty much ruined it. Glad I stayed local & went hiking in the Ozarks.

I'm starting to upload some videos to YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/mountainsquid04). They take a while to upload. The next one is at 52%, with about 50 minutes remaining . . . .

I wish you'd stopped and said hi DY....I was a little under the weather for the weekend so didn't go around too much looking for folks, but when I did I was looking for you.

The only police presence we noticed was when they were needed. Wolf, if you get a chance, please tell Kermit that Teacher & Snacktime along with FarmerChef & Family think he's the best!

i.e. "I couldn't get roaring drunk, do drugs, shove young women into my tent......." Seriously, why else would the presence of police ruin it.

I didn't attend, but I spoke with a former thru hiker by a campfire over the weekend who made it sound like there were no small number of people tripping this year. Hopefully his perspective didn't capture the truth of things, but I must say that shocked me.

there's a lot of hard core drugs at the camping area after dark. Trail Days takes place in town during daylight hours. all good hiker stuff. after hours stuff gets real. i'm a volunteer with DVRS. lotta calls out at the campground
