I would estimate that the trail will be closed for about another 12 months or so. The roads to both traillheads are not even clear of trees yet (much less the trail itself). You might want to check with the Desoto Ranger District in Wiggins (601-928-4422), but I have been told that there are large fines if you go now and get caught. Just thought I would let you know.
