Parking at US-421 Low Gap (NC-TN)

How safe is the parking at US-421/Low Gap TN? Need to park for about a week. Any close alternatives??

Its just a large gravel pullout with a picnic table.

There was reported vandalism at US 421 years ago. There was an incident dealing with a maintainer's car was vandalized (catalytic convertor ripped off) at McQueens Gap a couple years ago. MRO, Mountain Squid, LoneWolf, and Crazy Larry would have better info on the location.

Around this time of year, the pullout will probably be heavily used by motorcycles for what they call 'the Snake.'

Depending on your direction. You will have better parking at the Osborne Farm Tract at TN91 & Cross Mtn Rd, or in Damascus. Backbone Rock has a 3 mile blue blaze to the trail.

I saw a car there 2 weeks ago, with some heavy local traffic as I passed by on the trail. I would say you would be fine. A safer place would be at tn 91, I asked the ranger and he said he hasnt seen vandalism there in 10 years. And then you get to walk over the osborne farm :)
