An alert to Katahdin hikers!!! The Helon Taylor, Knife Edge and Hunt Trails [Appalachian Trail] are now open providing access to Baxter Peak. The Abol Trail is closed. This closure is marked by the orange flagging shown in the photo. Please respect this closure and do not pass this closure line. We'll continue to inspect the conditions of this trail. Thank you for your patience.
The opening was just announced a few hours ago; trails were still closed as of yesterday.
