Has anyone seen any in bloom in the southern sections of the trail? Anywhere from Springer to Roan?

They were still blooming in southern/central Virginia this last week or two, but only at the higher elevations. Lower down they were already past. This is about the time of year their suppose to peak on Roan Mt.

There were a very few still with blooms south of Dicks Creek Gap this past week but they were mostly spent. The mountain laurel was blooming though.

At the beginning of the week on hiked the Shinbone Trail. It's located really close to Indian Grave Gap. Some mountain laurel was in bloom and I saw only one rhodo blooming. Looks like it will be another week or two for that area.

In the Roan Higlands the last week of May and it was definitely starting to bloom, especially on the higher terrain.

Excuse my ignorance. How long does the blooming last?
