Please do not move this thread to gallery as there is not a "Vintage"/ "circa" catagory. I just love seeing the styles and scenery so to speak of older outdoor pictures. Tipi and Kerosine have both posted some good ones lately...

I'd love to see some also. However, in the 70's and 80's very few hikers carried a camera.

Mountain Mike has a ton as well. Like seeing them old photos as well, wish my comin up had been with camera in had, but filem and development costs money back when, and my priorities were such....;) miss spent yute.

I have lots of pictures from the mid 80's and on. Someday I'll have to scan them. Too bad I never took too many pictures of people. How about this one of me at the ATC, I think in 1989? I'm on the left with the white blaze t-shirt (as far as I know, the very first one) I forget who the other dude is. Man, I was skinny back then!

These are from 1980 in Dark Canyon, UT (the one in the cabin, check out the mesh shirts - popular back then) and along the CDT in CO. I'm in all of these, though two are just my back and one is just a bit of my hat.

As was pointed out, most of the photos that do exist are in the form of slides and haven't been scanned.

Sleeping bag, air mattress, and half of a tent all rolled up together.

Oh...and the jawbone of an ass hanging off the back.

@WingedMonkey - I'd have fallen for 1850 as the date stamp on that photo! Looks like you were headed to the gold rush.

I do not. Though, based on your question, perhaps I should ???? :)

For me, it just cool seeing an FT shirt from the 1970s. I imagine the trail was only in nascent form then.

It's Jim Kern, founder of the Florida Trail and the Florida Trail Association. Also was one of the founders of the American Hiking Society.
