Saw this at REI and took a look on Harmony Foods website. Has anyone tried this yet, http://www.rei.com/product/756809/harmony-house-backpacking-kit

They say up to 70 servings in a case. I am curious what others think of it..

I got it for Christmas a couple of years ago. Well worth the money, even if there are a pack or two of things you don't care for. I don't make complete meals with it, most often I throw a few spoons of various items into one of my other home-dried recipes. Excellent way to add nutrition.

I tried the sampler pack this year and did what Rocket Jones did. I didn't take everything with me, just the corn, carrots, peas, celery, tomatoes, and something else I can't remember right now, but it wasn't beans. The peas and corn elevated my dehydrated shepherd's pie into a real feast. In future, I'll probably just order some individual items rather than the full pack.

I buy direct from Harmony (they also sell on Amazon) and pick and choose what I like. I am on their mailing list, so often get email deals with % off.

Tomato Powder is so good in most everything is the one that has become a go-to in my backpacking fare. Leeks in Mashed Potatoes is also a favorite.

I have used everything -- EVERYTHING! Packit, Mountain house, home-dehydrated stuff, etc, etc. I am a BIG fan of Harmony House - I got the 'Hiker Kit' last time, along with some extra TVP. Lentils, Black Beans, tomatoes, peas, corn, all kinds of stuff you love to eat (I am a lover of all veggies, so it's easy for me) -- this stuff is excellent to pack your own meals, invent some variability, add onions, spice, etc as you want, and so on. The only thing is that the Harmony house foods do need a little seasoning - like salt, Ramen flavor paks, etc. I am sure they make 'em unseasoned so that more folks can use 'em.

I will buy a bunch of HH foods, then repackage them into small, one-portion ziplock bags I get from Target or somewhere. That way, all my dinners are pre-packaged, and I can pick and choose (within reason) what I want to eat that night. I just put 'em in water for a few minutes while I make tea or set up my camp, then add it to my cookpot and cook for about 10 minutes, then add either Ramen, instant rice, or Idahoan potatoes and voila!! I have a very good dinner that I can control. It is nutritious, flavorful, and far less expensive than the others (plus, I got really tired of Mountain House Lasagna or beefaroni all the time - especially at 6 bucks a pop).

Give 'em a shot.
