This information might be helpful to Colorado Trail hikers if your hike includes going through Frisco/Breckenridge and you have at least two drivers. Hertz has a small rental office at the Frisco Transfer Station on the free Summit Stage bus line.

Park your car at the start of your hike. Hike to where the trail crosses SR 9 between Breckenridge and Frisco. That is the Tiger Run bus stop. Take the free Summit Stage bus north to the Frisco Transfer Station. Get a one day car rental from Hertz. Drive the rental car back to where you started your hike. Drive both cars to where you want to end your hike and park your vehicle. Drive the rental car back to Frisco. Use the free bus to take you back to the trail.

We used this service to backpack Segments 6-10 from Kenosha Pass to the Mount Massive Trailhead, but it would work for many other starting points and destinations. A small car rental was about $60 for one day. Hertz has a very small office with only a few vehicles so make reservations.

I also recommend the Snowshoe Motel at the 6th and Main free bus stop in downtown Frisco. It was about $70 a night for two people in July 2014.

We also used the free Summit Stage bus to slackpack from SR 9 to Copper Mountain. That 12.9 mile segment has a lot of elevation gain and loss so we were happy to have light packs. Do an Internet search for Summit Stage Frisco to see all the schedules and routes.
