Hike Suggestions

I'm looking for suggestions for a 2-3 night hike within reasonable distance of Knoxville. Almost all of my trips have been in National Parks, and I'm wanting to branch out. I've really been eyeing the Roan Highlands, but I'm worried it won't provide the wilderness feel I want. Am I confined to the GSMNP if I want any semblance of remoteness?

I would suggest Linville Gorge in NC, but you probably wouldn't get a tremendous amount of miles. Pretty rugged and a National Wilderness area.
