In 2008 Karl Meltzer attempted a support speed record attempt with a big production sponsored by Backcountry.com, he was plauged by injury and finished in 54 days, about a week slower than the record. It sounds like he is back at it this year without all the hoopla, but still gunning for the record, which is currently owned by Jennifer Pharr Davis of 46 D 11 H 21 M. According to this interview He has started is trek from Katahdin sometime within the last few days. He's not planning on keeping a public journal of his whereabouts. I just wanted to post something about it on here because I would love to be able to follow along with his journey and would appreciate that if anyone saw him on the trail to post here and let us know roughly where he is. I would appreciate if this thread doesn't turn into a flame war about speed record attempts ect. Hike your own hike, right?

Thanks,
