Hello all. I have decided to help out with my local boy scout troop and obtain some books about hiking and backpacking that the boys could take with them on their overnight hikes. Our goal is to get the kids "off the grid" for a few days and escape the Facebooks and Twitter feeds of the world for a few nights.
We are looking to collect used books about hiking and backpacking from our local community and I am reaching out to my WB community to help in anyway.
If you are interested in donating any of your used hiking/backpacking books, please shoot me a PM and I can give you further details on shipping the books.

You have my attention. I share your goals. Give me the reader's age range you would like. Any titles in particular you desire or need? Do all the books need to be the type of small pocket sized books one might take along on overnight trips? In other words, is there something akin to a hiking library for the Boy Scouts?

We have age groups between 13-17. We are looking for paperbacks that are used or in near mint condition. A few of the older scouts are interested in Awol in the AT and other non-fiction titles aimed at modern readers.

Thanks to everyone who has donated at this time. We are still looking for any books that folks are willing to send in. I held off on dropping off the books as we currently only have a handful and I am searching for more on my own. If you have any that you are willing to send, just send me a PM and I will get you all the info you need.

This is the awesome load of books donated by Dogwood. He even sent some great little goodies!
If I was back home in HI I could send you another 20 books. The Boy Scouts of America not only introduced me to the outdoors in an organized fashion but in many ways I believe assisted me in being a better person. Glad to see you think so too and you're putting your thoughts into action. :)
