Hey guys,
I had my heart set on a Nemo Obi 1 elite as my new solo tent. Its set up is easy & I'm comfortable with it. I'm looking now for something as similar as possible, only made in USA. Under 2-2.5#... $350 max...
Any suggestions would be great!

Yes, I'm looking specifically for American made. I was checking out the Rainbow and the Moment DW. Then the Contrail, ahaha... all of them look pretty great honestly.

I'm on my second Contrail. The first one lasted something like 7000 trail miles over six seasons, plus one transcontinental bicycle trip before I retired it, but it was still serviceable. It was well into the "dimes per night" range of cost effectiveness. I am so pleased to see a replacement is still available. The other models have tempting features, but I'm still drawn to the ruggedness and simplicity (and low cost) of the Contrail.

Personally I use nothing but the built in floor on my Notch. I always make sure I clear the area well before I set up the tent and then feel for sharp items through the floor before I set up my pad. I have never had an issue with water getting in through the floor either.

Tarptent Contrail here. I do not use a ground cloth.

I've never used a ground cloth with my Tarptents. I had a few minor abrasions on the canopy of my old, retired tent, guy line attachments were showing age, and the zipper was tired, but interestingly the floor was pristine. And I spent a lot of nights in desert and rocky tundra.
