I'll be starting sobo Sep 6 and finishing +/- Oct 20 on the AZT. Which Western Mountaineering sleeping bag: 32degree or20degree? I'll have a silk liner in either and have a down puffy available for any extra cold nights.

I would think the 32. You might be slightly chilled in the Flagstaff area but then you'll drop down to the desert and you'll see 100 degree days into October so nights should be warm as well. PM me if you need more info. Also Garlic, fellow whiteblaser, is a good source of info as well. I'll be gone to Vermont for most of your hike but there are many who can assist your hike.

Split the difference maybe? Sycamore at 25 degrees.
Good luck and have fun.

Saw your other thread. I didn't know you owned both bags. I am in buying mode and can't decide between those two bags.

I am a very cold sleeper, WM Alpinlite with overfill. Heck, I use this sometimes in the summer.

Roll with the WM 32* Summerlite mixing in the liner here and there. You might even be able to use the right liner as your bag in the beginning. Going NOBO I'd change out to the 20* below Flagstaff. You rolling with a tarptent? What's your shelter?

I think the 32 would be fine, too. My last season in that area I did fine that time of year with a 30F quilt. You don't really have to camp in high alpine conditions on the AZT, especially now that the lower trail around Mt Humphreys is complete. You might even want to camp in higher elevations to get out of the heat down south.

Thx for all the info. I'll roll with the 32degree bag. Dogwood, my shelter is Zpacks Hexamid Plus.

You've turned into a trail animal. Chugging along still committed after all the challenges. I love it. I'm avidly looking forward to seeing you on the trail or wherever. All My Best DDubs.
