View Full Version : Troutdale Va. hostels and shuttles
I don't have the most current trail guide so can someone tell me if there is a hostel there that offers a shuttle to and from the trail? I will be hiking with my dog and plan to overnight there as well, so it would need to be dog friendly or at least allow for tenting if they have a no pet rule.

Don't think there is anyone shuttling...hitch in from Dicky Gap. Troutdale is a very small town.
Anyone know if the restaurant/store ever reopened?

I have not passed by the building where the restaurant was in a couple of months, but at that time it was empty.
The post office is still very functional.
The hostel is a building on the grounds of the Troutdale Baptist Church. There is also a large pavillion with big tables. Good dogs on leash are probably never turned away.
Nu2Hike, you did not mention when you expect to need a ride.

store/restaurant is NOT open
I plan to be on trail Aug.20. I'm planning on shuttling north and hiking south to Damascus. I should reach Troutdale on Sun. Aug. 24.
I hope to send a resupply package to the hostel at the church.
Do you know if the church hostel excepts packages?

Our Sufi Lodge offers shuttling for our guests and when available to others. Ask for James or Suzanne. If you are closer to Sugar Grove or the Partnership Shelter Shirley's Market is a good choice. 276-677-3577 ask for Sara or Billy
