Have any of you thru-hikers ever used rubber bands for things on your trip? If so, how much time did you get out of these before they stretched out and were useless. I would like to hold my tent stakes together with them when packed.

Rubber bands don't last very long, but the rubber band type things used for pony tails hold up very well and come in at least two sizes.

Rubber bands have their uses. I use on to keep the windscreen wrapped around my fuel bottle.

Tent stakes? Mine go in a little tent stake bag.

I figured a rubberband would allow mud to dry on the stakes and fall off faster than cramping them up in a bag. I also thought it would be lighter than a bag with a drawcord. I'll look at trying one of those elastic hairties.
