You're right about that... you have to keep your eyes peeled because most all these stores exclude the gear you really want to buy from the best sales.
I just picked up a WM bag for my wife at Moosejaw and saved $32.90 with a 10% off coupon. 10% off on a WM bag is about as good as it gets.
