Not on The Trail, but yesterday, as it was getting dark, I was walking to a neighbors house from my Idaho cabin and I met a mid-sized black bear heading toward me on the path. This bear has been boldly helping itself to my neighbors plums and showing very little fear, even of gunshots. I stopped, and in my notably loud voice I said "Bad bear!, Go home!". The beast then trotted off into the forest. Being a bigmouth pays! I like being scarier than a 30-06.
